Job description

About Greentown Labs
Greentown Labs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit accelerating climatetech innovation for the planet, people, and prosperity. As the world's largest climatetech and energy startup incubator, Greentown catalyzes ecosystems to provide entrepreneurs mission-critical access to labs, equipment, customers, capital, talent, community, and resources for business and leadership growth. Greentown is home to more than 250 startups and has supported more than 675 since its founding in 2011; these startups, with a survival rate of 88 percent, have collectively created more than 16,600 jobs and raised more than $12.5B in funding. We are entering a new phase of growth-strengthening our platform, expanding globally, and building more structured, scalable ways to serve our two core customer bases: startups and corporate partners. For more information, visit www.greentownlabs.com or follow Greentown on LinkedIn.
Position Overview
Greentown Labs is seeking a hands-on, relationship-driven Manager, Partnerships to manage a portfolio of partner accounts in Houston. Reporting to the Director, Partnerships, this role owns account delivery and renewals across your book, with support from the broader Partnerships team.
You will step into an active set of partner accounts and be accountable for retention, activation, engagement delivery, the value of your portfolio, and the number of partners you serve. This is an account-management role, distinct from new business development, which sits with our BD team.
This is a role for a dependable account manager who is energized by being in the room with partners, who keeps the details tight, and who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
What you'll do
Account Portfolio & Delivery
  • Own day-to-day delivery and management across your portfolio of partner accounts
  • Deliver on partner engagement and account activation with a focus on customer delight
  • Manage onboarding and renewals with support from the broader team
  • Help grow the value and partner count of your book over time

Partner Relationships
  • Onboard, steward, and retain partners, and be the dependable point of contact for your accounts
  • Represent Greentown to partners and across the Houston campus

Events & Strategic Projects
  • Support the delivery and planning of Houston Sector Pitch Day and other Greentown-led programming
  • Pitch in on team projects and process improvements as they come up

Operating Discipline & Cross-Site Work
  • Keep CRM and account records accurate, with proper data tracking and reporting on your portfolio
  • Connect partnerships to programs and events, partnering with the Somerville-based team across both campuses

Who You Are
You are a dependable account manager who delivers for partners and keeps the details tight. You are mission-driven, organized, and energized by being in the room. You are:
  • A hands-on account manager who owns delivery and retention across a portfolio of relationships
  • A confident communicator with partners and across a two-campus team, with a strong written and verbal voice
  • Organized and reliable, comfortable managing renewals and account details with support
  • A systems thinker who treats CRM hygiene, follow-through, and reporting as core to the work, not admin
  • Genuinely interested in the climatetech ecosystem and the work our members are doing, with a real eagerness to learn the stories driving the energy transition

Qualifications
  • Experience: 4-6+ years of progressive experience in partnership, account, or member-relationship management, with delivery and retention in your name
  • Account Management: Track record managing partner or client accounts day to day, including renewals, with support from a broader team
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; concentrations in business, sustainability, or a related field a plus
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to represent the organization to partners and stakeholders
  • Mission: Real climate and energy interest with substance, able to name programs, startups, or technologies rather than express general enthusiasm
  • Organization: Strong account and project-management discipline; fluent with CRM tools like Salesforce or comparable, plus Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
  • In-Person: Comfort with a hybrid on-site presence at our Houston location, three days a week and more as needed for partner engagements, with travel to Somerville as the work requires
  • Preferred: Familiarity with the climatetech, energy, or built-environment ecosystem; experience managing enterprise or member accounts

What Success Looks Like
In your first 6-12 months, you will have:
  • Taken ownership of your inherited portfolio of partner accounts and established a reliable delivery cadence
  • Delivered strong retention across your accounts and managed renewals smoothly
  • Helped grow the value and partner count of your portfolio
  • Supported the delivery of the Houston Sector Pitch Day and other Greentown-led programming
  • Built a strong working relationship with the Senior Director and the Somerville-based team

General Physical Demands
Reasonable accommodations will be provided upon request to enable candidates to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Communication: Regularly required to communicate with others in person, via phone, and virtually/electronically
  • Stationary Work: Prolonged periods working on a computer
  • Mobility: Regularly moving around the office to interact with colleagues, access files, and attend meetings
  • Physical Demands: Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.

Additional Considerations
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required to attend off-site events or conferences.
  • Late Hours: Evening work will be necessary for some events.

Work Location and Schedule
This role is on-site at our Houston, TX facility three days a week, with more as needed for partner engagements and travel to Somerville as the work requires. The base salary range for this position is $70,000-$75,000 annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary performance bonus and a competitive benefits package.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Be a part of a dynamic and growing organization committed to making a positive impact on the world
  • Work in a collaborative and supportive environment with opportunities for professional development
  • Employees may be eligible for incentive compensation at year-end; incentive compensation is tied to organizational performance and individual performance
