Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for creating and executing a business plan that identifies new sales opportunities for Account Executives while supporting Southland Energy's strategic business goals. The BDM will capitalize on industry trends, develop key industry relationships, and closely coordinate with Acquisition Teams to achieve growth and sales goals.
Position Details
  • Develops strategic direction for market segment or vertical market, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction of the business and in support of achieving annual sales targets. These strategic initiatives must be synergistic with the strategic initiatives of the sales team.
  • Gathers market intelligence and outlines specific strategies necessary to drive growth and capitalize on business opportunities.
  • Works with business development and sales teams to develop client relationships and to identify and qualify new business opportunities. Attends client meetings as necessary to support other team members.
  • Develops, maintains and expands relationships with all levels in an account. Schedules appointments and meetings with customers in order to review and define program opportunities and desired success parameters, and to qualify the opportunity.
  • Attends critical networking and trade show events to obtain leads and expand knowledge of critical issues facing our customer base.
  • Participates in speaking engagements and authors white papers
  • Travel up to 50%

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 10+ years of consultative or relevant experience.
  • Must have experience working in relevant market sector or vertical market - specific experience varies based on BDM focus area.
  • Must have experience developing Design Build energy and / or infrastructure retrofit projects such as Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC), Energy as a Service (EaaS), Public Private Partnerships (PPP), etc.
  • Experience working in the specific vertical markets pertinent to Business Development activities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to present effectively to groups and in public forums, such as City Council or School Board meetings or Federal energy conferences and workshops.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen.

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For (Colorado/New York City/California/Washington/Maryland) this ranges from $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
