About the Role

As an Infant Teacher at Merryhill School, you will provide attentive, nurturing care in a safe and stimulating classroom environment. You will support each infant’s individual feeding, sleeping, and developmental needs while creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage early cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical growth.

Through responsive caregiving and consistent communication with families, you will help establish a strong foundation for each child’s continued development and success.

You will also:

  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and learning activities
  • Plan and facilitate arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and hands-on educational experiences
  • Provide attentive supervision during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, snacks, and transitions
  • Support children with potty training and other age-appropriate personal-care routines
  • Encourage language development, independence, positive peer interactions, and emotional growth
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leaders to provide a consistent and positive student experience
  • Communicate professionally with families regarding classroom activities and student development
  • Follow all school policies and applicable licensing requirements related to health, safety, and student supervision

What We’re Looking For

  • 12 semester (or 18 quarter) units in Early Childhood Education, including coursework in child development, curriculum, and family/community
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Early childhood education coursework, Child Development Associate credential, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience caring for infants in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
  • Knowledge of infant development, responsive caregiving practices, and age-appropriate learning activities
  • Ability to meet all state childcare licensing and training requirements
  • Current infant and child CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification before or shortly after hire
  • Ability to successfully complete state and federal background checks
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to lift and carry infants, sit on the floor, bend, stoop, and remain actively engaged throughout the day
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and dependable learning environment
