Position Summary
The Director of Learning & Development (L&D) establishes and directs the strategy, development, and execution of bank-wide learning initiatives to support evolving business needs and foster a culture of continuous learning. This position oversees the effective delivery of learning programs to support organizational goals, team member development, and regulatory compliance. The Director of Learning & Development reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and provides excellent service and support to team members and customers while demonstrating the Company's values and supporting the mission.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establish and direct the strategy, development, and execution of bank-wide learning initiatives to support evolving business needs and foster a culture of continuous learning
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff. Identify professional development opportunities and provide performance feedback on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee the effective delivery of learning programs to support organizational goals, team member development, and regulatory compliance
  • Lead instructional design confirming learning content remains current, relevant, and engaging
  • Oversee the optimization of the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Drive innovation in learning approaches to include piloting enhanced learning formats, testing emerging technologies, and utilizing various instructional approaches
  • Partner with senior management to align learning initiatives with organizational objectives and serve as a trusted advisor
  • Support the implementation of new systems, products, and process improvements through effective training strategies
  • Establish learning metrics and key performance indicators to measure program effectiveness, learner engagement, and business impact
  • Evaluate learning trends to continuously enhance learning initiatives
  • Partner with key stakeholders to confirm required training programs meet regulatory requirements
  • Oversee vendor relationships, learning technology platforms, external partnerships, and L&D budgets
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations
  • Attend training as requested
  • Adhere to compliance with all federal bank regulations and laws, including those for consumer protection and the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Program
  • Participate in outside community activities as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in organizational development, learning and development, instructional design, education, human resources, business administration, or related field
  • 3 years of related experience
  • 3 years of leadership experience
  • Experience in banking or financial services industry preferred
  • Professional certification in training, development, or human resources preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Office, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, and other business productivity platforms including virtual meeting platforms utilized for remote learning sessions
  • Proficient in learning technologies and LMS platforms
  • Experience in instructional design methodologies
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in learning analytics
  • Strong collaboration, creativity, and a commitment to continuous improvement in instructional design
  • Solid understanding of learning needs with ability to understand different audiences
  • Ability to identify training gaps and provide solutions for continuous employee development
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation skills
