Part-time yoga instructors often enjoy flexible schedules, as classes may be held early mornings, evenings, or weekends to accommodate client availability. While you can usually express your preferred time slots, it’s common to work at multiple studios or locations to fill your hours. Building good relationships with studio managers and being open to a variety of class types can help maximize your teaching opportunities.

What is a part-time yoga instructor?

These instructors may work at yoga studios, gyms, community centers, or offer private sessions. Part-time yoga instructors are responsible for guiding students through yoga poses, ensuring correct alignment, and promoting relaxation and mindfulness. Many part-time instructors balance teaching yoga with other jobs or personal commitments. This role can be ideal for those seeking flexible work hours while sharing their passion for yoga.

Can a yoga instructor be a side hustle?

Yes, a yoga instructor can pursue teaching classes as a side hustle, often working evenings or weekends outside their primary job. This allows flexibility to supplement income while maintaining their certification and skills in yoga instruction.

To thrive as a Part Time Yoga Instructor, you typically need a solid understanding of yoga practices, anatomy, and a recognized yoga teacher certification such as RYT 200. Familiarity with scheduling software, online teaching platforms, and health and safety protocols is often required. Outstanding communication, motivational skills, and the ability to create a welcoming environment help instructors connect with students and foster growth. These skills and qualities are essential for ensuring safe, effective instruction and building a loyal client base in a competitive wellness industry.

ABOUT CITY PARKS FOUNDATION
At City Parks Foundation (CPF), we are dedicated to invigorating and transforming New York City parks into dynamic, vibrant centers of urban life through arts, environmental education, sports, and community building programs for all New Yorkers. Our ethos is simple: we believe thriving parks mean thriving communities.
Community engagement includes Partnerships for Parks, a public-private program of City Parks Foundation and NYC Parks, which supports and champions a growing network of community leaders who care and advocate for the transformation of our neighborhood parks and the Parks and Open Space Partners-NYC coalition of conservancies and alliances. We also administer the NYC Green Fund, a regranting program for parks and open space nonprofits and grassroots organizations.
We produce SummerStage, the iconic free, outdoor performing arts festival in NYC, presenting world-class artists from across the globe and our own neighborhoods on our mainstage in Central Park and in local parks in all five boroughs, and our Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre and roving PuppetMobile present marionette puppet theater throughout New York City.
We connect youngsters to nature in the urban environment through progressive, experiential teaching. Using parks as classrooms, we provide learning experiences and hands-on activities in urban forests, coastal areas, and gardens.
Free golf, tennis, track & field, soccer, and fitness programs bring high-quality instruction and equipment into areas where few organized athletic opportunities exist. We offer leveled training, year-round scholarship coaching, and special pro events.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. City Parks Foundation does not offer visa sponsorship.
