Part-time web developers may work for multiple clients or companies, or as freelancers, and their responsibilities often include coding, troubleshooting, and implementing website features. Job description

Who are we?
Gopinion is a small Boston based start up with the goal of bridging the communication gap between businesses and their customers. Through the Gopinion mobile app, users fill out micro-surveys (max 20 seconds), and select an instant reward from either the business they reviewed or any other business in our system. The data from these micro-surveys is collected on the individual business owner's web dashboard where they can engage with the users through our app.
What stage are we?
We are currently in Alpha testing. We have an app in the app store, and are currently testing a proof-of-concept in 15 locations around the Copley and Harvard Square areas. We have businesses such as Flour Bakery, Burger King, Dependable Cleaners, and the Duck Tours among others. We are in the final stages of a beta version of our product which is set to release in late September, with the Harvard University Dining Services (15 locations in Harvard Square) ready to start with us when we release our new app.
What do we need?
We need smart, driven developers who want to intern with us over the course of the year. We are flexible in terms of part time positions and compensation, but most importantly we are looking for people who believe in our product and want to take part in a brand new start-up in the very early stages.
What skills do we require?
Administrative info:
We use GitHub for our source control, and Jira for project management.
Web and API development:
Our web app is built in PHP with the codeigniter MVC framework, and has a MySQL database.
Skills:
  • PHP with the Codeigniter framework
  • RESTful API experience
  • MySQL experience
  • Some HTML/CSS experience, design experience is not required as we are using a template

Mobile App Development:
Our mobile app is built in Appcelerator with the Alloy MVC format. Appcelerator is a platform that allows you to build a mobile app entirely in javascript and have it compile to Objective-C and Java for iOS and Android.
Skills:
  • Javascript
  • Backbone.js and Underscore.js experience
  • Mobile experience preferred, but not required
  • Mac (unfortunately necessary for the iOS simulator)

Contact Information:
If you are interested in interning for a brand new startup just entering its beta phase, please contact us and let us know about yourself and we would be happy to explain more about our company and our needs.
