Staff Assistant, Web Content Creator

Title - Staff Assistant, Web Content Creator

Department Summary - Web Communications oversees all aspects of bridgew.edu, the university's primary website. The department provides oversight, content creation, design, training, technical development and support to the web infrastructure. Web Communications adheres to a continuous improvement philosophy focused on understanding the needs of users, designing suitable web experiences, assessing performance via data and implementing incremental changes. This department works collaboratively within Enrollment, Marketing and Communications and throughout the university to tell the Bridgewater story and enhance BSU's reputation.

Position Summary - As a member of the Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications, the Web Content Creator is responsible for creating, editing, designing, updating, testing and tracking the performance of web content on the Bridgewater State University website (www.bridgew.edu). The Web Content Creator has responsibility for ensuring consistency of web content with the Bridgewater State University brand and style guide, and ensuring content is accessible and optimized for search engine and generative engine findability (SEO/GEO). Works collaboratively with other divisional employees to integrate video, marketing, social media, and content updates with the website. The Web Content Creator also will make recommendations for improving the format, design, and content of the website.SUPERVISIONRECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Web Content Manager.SUPERVISIONEXERCISED: May exercise supervision over support staff.Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, some nights, and weekends. This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position is eligible for hybrid / remote work in accordance withBSUremote work policy.This is a full-time, 12-monthAPAposition and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

Essential Duties - 1. Create, review and edit content for the Bridgewater State University website – www.bridgew.edu.2. Ensure all content uploaded onto the website meets accessibility and content standards.3. Regularly update and check for accurate content on the website.4. Work collaboratively to develop and build new content and functionality for the website.5. Ability to collaborate effectively with others at all levels and units of the university to create new and update existing content on the website.6. Develop reports and monitor web performance statistics.7. Work with university colleagues to implement video content for the website.8. Make recommendations to Web Content Manager and Director of Web Communications for upgrades and changes to the format, design, and content of the website.9. Attend staff meetings and participate in discussions about the organization's operations and strategic direction.10. Actively supports the University's initiatives of Diversity & Social Justice.11. Related duties as assigned by Web Content Manager and Director of Web Communications.

Required Qualifications - 1. Bachelor's degree required.2. 1 year professional experience in web content creation required.3. Excellent editing and proofreading skills, including the ability to edit a variety of material for clarity, logical organization, and stylistic consistency.4. Ability to work with colleagues to continually improve the website.5. Experience in embedding video and static graphic content into web pages.6. Project management skills, including ability to develop work plans and timelines, handle simultaneous assignments, and meet deadlines.7. Strong interpersonal communication skills.*Please include a Writing Sample or link to digital communications materials.

Preferred Qualifications - 1. Work experience developing content for complex websites in a large, dispersed organization.2. Accessibility (WCAG2.1) knowledge preferred.3. Working knowledge ofSEO/GEOpreferred.4.CMSexperience (Drupal or similar) preferred.5. Familiarity with Google Analytics preferred.
