Job description

Operating Partner: Capital Formation
Department: Studio
Employment Type: Part Time
Location: New York City
Description
New York City (Preferred) | Equity-Based Partner Role
About C10 Labs
C10 Labs is an AI fund and venture studio with operations in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and New York City. We back exceptional founders, researchers, and operators - and we build and invest in AI companies across enterprise software, healthcare, life sciences, energy, climate, manufacturing, and scientific discovery.
Our platform combines venture investing, venture creation, founder support, and ecosystem development. Through our accelerator programs, our studio, and a growing network of investors, operators, and industry leaders, we help founders turn breakthrough technology into venture-scale companies. As we prepare for Fund II and expand in New York, we are adding an Operating Partner to grow our LP investor base, build corporate and strategic partnerships, and drive capital formation.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional operating role.
It is a partner-level seat for someone who wants real ownership in building one of the leading AI venture platforms in New York and beyond. We are looking for a deeply connected operator, investor, or executive who will work capital formation and high-value partnerships in parallel - bringing capital in and putting the relationships around it to work for C10 and its portfolio companies.
The right person brings two things at once: deep limited-partner relationships across venture capital, family offices, institutional investors, and corporate venture; and the standing to open doors with corporates, strategic partners, and commercial buyers. What changes outcomes here is not a title - it is who trusts you, and what you can set in motion on both sides of that ledger.
This role is built for someone motivated by long-term ownership - building something durable alongside the C10 leadership team, not collecting a salary.
What You'll Own
Capital Formation
  • Source and cultivate prospective Limited Partner relationships.
  • Generate qualified introductions to family offices, institutional investors, fund-of-funds, corporate venture investors, and strategic capital partners.
  • Support fundraising through investor engagement, relationship development, and meeting facilitation.
  • Participate in LP meetings, diligence conversations, and fundraising activities.

Investor Relationships & Network
  • Expand and strengthen the C10 investor base in New York City and nationally.
  • Build relationships with angels, venture firms, family offices, emerging managers, and industry leaders.
  • Make strategic introductions between investors, corporates, founders, and portfolio companies.
  • Represent C10 Labs at venture, startup, and technology events, and create durable engagement over time.

Platform Growth
  • Identify partnerships that expand the firm's reach, capital base, and visibility.
  • Introduce relationships that support portfolio company growth and commercialization.
  • Contribute to broader platform and ecosystem-development efforts.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the leadership team.

What We're Looking For
Required

  • Experience in venture capital, fundraising, investor relations, business development, private markets, or strategic partnerships.
  • A track record of building and closing corporate or strategic partnerships.
  • A strong network across investors, corporates, founders, and operators.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • An entrepreneurial, self-directed work style.

Preferred
  • Prior experience as a founder, venture partner, or corporate development leader.
  • Experience supporting venture fundraising or capital formation.
  • Existing relationships with LPs, family offices, corporate venture arms, or strategic partners.
  • A real interest in AI, deep technology, and venture creation.

Who You Are
  • A natural connector who builds relationships that last.
  • Credible inside investor and startup communities.
  • Someone who enjoys opening doors and creating opportunities for others.
  • A long-term thinker, motivated by ownership rather than transactions.
  • At your best with autonomy and little structure.
  • Equally comfortable with investors and corporate counterparties.

How You'll Be Measured
This is an active operating role, not an advisory seat. Success looks like:
  • Qualified LPs introduced and closed.
  • Strategic and corporate partnerships closed.
  • Corporate venture and commercial relationships activated.
  • Capital commitments sourced or influenced.
  • Partnerships that drove portfolio company revenue, pilots, or distribution.
  • Investor meetings facilitated.
  • Growth of the C10 investor and partner network.

Compensation & Alignment
This is an equity-based Operating Partner role that ties long-term contribution to long-term ownership.
Compensation is built around carried interest and management-company participation - partner economics that reward the long-term success of the fund and the platform, not any single transaction. As a partner, your stake is sized to reflect your contribution, network, and involvement, and vests over time. Specifics - including how your role in growing the fund is recognized in your partner economics - are discussed directly with the leadership team.
Engagement: a part-time commitment of roughly 5-10 hours per week.
Why C10 Labs
  • Real ownership and long-term upside.
  • Direct access to leading founders, investors, operators, and corporate partners.
  • A hand in shaping Fund II and future investment vehicles.
  • The chance to build one of the most connected AI venture platforms in New York City.
  • Work alongside experienced founders, investors, and company builders.
  • A direct role in backing the next generation of AI companies.
