Job description

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a part-time AV Tech Coordinator who is responsible for supporting AV needs and maintenance across the museum under the guidance and support of the IT Manager. This position coordinates the coverage of AV for events across the museum. This position helps setup and troubleshoot AV needs for special events, and maintains the maintenance and inventory of audio visual equipment for all event spaces at OMSI's main campus, as well as remote sites. This position is scheduled 20 hours per week.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities Event Technology Support:Coordinates/setups audiovisual systems around the museum based on fluctuating department needs;Serves as the main point of contact for on-call AV Technicians and/or 3rd party tech support. Regularly communicates with and elevates emerging and rising issues to the Information Technology Manager;Coordinates the scheduling of on-call and 3rd party tech support, as needed;Attends weekly Events meetings to discuss technology requirements for scheduled events;Meets with OMSI staff to identify and recommend the necessary audio-visual equipment for scheduled events;Attends site surveys with external clients and OMSI representatives to assess AV requirements for potential future events;Meets with external clients for day-of event setup and troubleshoots their technology and presentation needs;Troubleshoots technical issues related to OMSI-related software and/or audio-visual equipment, such as computer hardware and software installations, power cycling, and equipment assessment;Setups and operates AV equipment for monthly All-Staff and Managers Meetings. OMSI AV Equipment Maintenance:Maintains upkeep of all audio-visual equipment in OMSI's event spaces, such as conducting general equipment maintenance and lamp life checks; (Main Campus and remote sites)Keeps track of inventory of OMSI event space audio visual equipment;Replaces bulbs, filters, and fans as required;Communicates supply requirements to the Information Technology Manager;Assesses AV-related issues and reports to the Information Technology Manager. IT End User Support:Assist with the deployment and upkeep of computer equipment, hardware/operating system updates. Assess technology related issues and report to Information Technology ManagerAssist the Information Technology Manager with deployment of basic network infrastructure equipment and upgrades;Assist with basic phone system management. User account setup, hardware deployment, basic troubleshooting;Assist with IT equipment setup in office moves throughout the museum. Qualified candidates will have, but not limited to:Minimum of 1 year of experience working with audio-visual systems in a work and/or hobby environmentDemonstrated experience and/or the ability to coordinate a successful AV programDemonstrated experience providing customer service in a work environmentDemonstrated success working with people of diverse ages and backgrounds. The AV Tech Coordinator has a starting wage of $24.53 per hour.
