UI/UX Lead (Remote, Part-Time)

Weโ€™re seeking an experienced and creative UI/UX Lead to join our team in a remote, part-time capacity. In this role, youโ€™ll collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure user needs and business goals are seamlessly integrated into productsโ€”from early concept through final delivery.

As the UI/UX Lead, youโ€™ll guide and mentor a team of designers to deliver exceptional digital experiences. Youโ€™ll foster collaboration, cultivate a positive team environment, and champion both product vision and company values while helping drive successful outcomes.

Youโ€™ll also play a key role in research and strategyโ€”leading discovery efforts, documenting insights, and translating user needs into actionable design direction.

This is a contract role (up to 20 hours per week), with hours varying based on project needs. Weโ€™re looking for a long-term partner who is passionate about leading discovery, shaping strategy, and growing with our company.
Rate: $40โ€“$85/hour (based on experience)
Note: This is a contract position and does not include benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Lead client workshops and discovery sessions
  • Collaborate with clients to understand business goals and user needs
  • Define technical and business requirements, delivering intuitive, user-centered solutions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to plan and implement design solutions
  • Continuously improve and optimize existing user interfaces
  • Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for new product ideas
  • Test and validate design concepts before implementation
  • Conduct ongoing user research and usability testing
  • Design, execute, and evaluate studies to improve user experience
  • Document findings and translate insights into clear requirements and strategy
  • Build user scenarios and strategic UX deliverables
  • Mentor, train, and support UI/UX team members
  • Track and analyze UX metrics to inform design decisions
  • Promote collaboration and design excellence across the team

Requirements & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design or a related role
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX/UI work and process
  • Experience leading client discovery sessions and workshops
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate and defend design decisions
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design, usability, and design thinking
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)
  • Experience with tools such as Sketch, InVision, or similar
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress, Drupal), HTML, and CSS
  • Must be based in the United States
