PART-TIME UNION STATION VOLUNTEER COORDINATORDEPARTMENT: Community and Economic DevelopmentDIVISION: Union Station - Cultural ServicesRate of pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hourFLSA: PT up to a maximum of 29 hours per weekGENERAL PURPOSEThe Union Station Volunteer Coordinator attracts trains, schedules, engages and supports volunteers to assist with daily museum operations to enhance the visitor experience. This position also oversees the museum's guest membership program, including membership advertisement and marketing, enrollment, renewals, benefits, and member communications. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and up-to-date volunteer and membership records and coordinating on-going volunteer coverage. This position coordinates a variety of programs and experiences designed to enhance the value of membership to encourage continued participation. This position works collaboratively with museum staff to ensure a welcoming and engaging environment for the public. Position receives direction from the Museum Administrator.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSTrain, schedule, and support museum volunteersServe as the primary point of contact for volunteer questions and concernsEnsure volunteers follow museum policies, safety procedures, and codes of conductSupport emergency or incident procedures as trainedTrack and report volunteer participation and engagementTrack and report membership activity internally Coordinate volunteer assignments to support daily operations and public programsAdminister the guest membership program, including inquiries, enrollments, renewals, and benefitsMaintain accurate volunteer and membership records and databasesAssist with volunteer recognition, engagement, and development activitiesCoordinate and support member engagement activitiesCollaborate with museum staff to ensure a positive visitor and member experienceAssist with promoting outreach efforts and community engagement related to volunteers and membershipsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.Associate's degree preferred in history, communications, hospitality, business, or a related field.Experience of three years or more in volunteer coordination, membership services, customer service, or a related field highly preferredPossession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Utah driver's license within 180 of hire.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledgePrinciples and practices of volunteer coordination and engagementCustomer service standards and public-facing operationsMembership program administration and basic recordkeepingGeneral museum operations, programs, and visitor servicesOffice procedures and basic data management systemsExperience with managing volunteers using PastPerfect preferredExperience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, and Adobe AcrobatSkillsEffective verbal and written communication with diverse audiencesOrganization, scheduling, and time managementData entry and maintenance of volunteer and membership recordsProblem-solving and conflict resolution in a public settingCollaboration and teamwork with staff, volunteers, and community partnersAbilitiesAbility to train, and support volunteers of varying backgroundsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentAbility to provide courteous, professional service to the publicAbility to follow established city policies and proceduresAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriatelyWORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe work environment is primarily indoors with moderate noise and temperature levels. Occasional outdoor work may be required during events and programs.The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.Must possess the visual ability to see clearly at close (less than 20 inches) and far (20 feet or more) distances, and judge distances and spatial relationships.Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, and hearing.Applicants must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
