The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) manages and supports implementation of the Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program (PTSCTP) regulation (49 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) Part 672) and other transit safety courses. The PTSCTP establishes a training curriculum to enhance the knowledge and skills of individuals who conduct safety audits and examinations of public transportation systems operated by public transportation agencies, and those who are directly responsible for safety oversight of public transportation agencies. Designated State Safety Oversight Agency and Rail Transit Agency employees and contractors are required to participate in and complete the PTSCTP.

One responsibility is to convert the existing rail transit PTSCTP courses from traditional face-to-face instructor-led formats to 100% online blended learning formats.
