Job description

Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Part-Time Telecommunications Manager in the Information Operations Department. The Successful candidate will administer and manage the telecommunication systems including Avaya IP Office; AVST voicemail; Teltronics Call Recording; Avotus Call Accounting and SPOK 911 systems; and supervise Telecommunications Staff.
This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administration and management of telecommunication systems including Avaya IP Office, AVST voicemail, Teltronics Call Recording, Avotus Call Accounting and SPOK 911 systems.
  • Supervision of telecommunications staff, backup operators and outside vendors.
  • Procurement and administration of cellular telephone plans and devices.
  • Consult with University personnel in determining current and future requirements for their telecommunication needs.
  • Work closely with Conference Services & Special Events to ensure telecommunication requirements are defined and delivered for both MU and non-MU events on campus.
  • Negotiate and monitor telecommunication service contracts
  • Oversee all incoming telecommunication bills and coordinate payment
  • Work with outside vendors on design, installation and repair projects.
  • Work with outside vendors to resolve telephone billing problems.
  • Document and maintain all telephone records include caller ID.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Familiarity with Avaya telephone systems - especially IP Office and AVST VoiceMail.
  • Familiarity with telephone call accounting software.
  • Understanding of telephone cable plant systems.
  • Be able to provide after hours coverage, as needed.
  • Previous Supervisory Experience
Preferred Requirements:
  • Five years working in the telecommunications industry on the technical side.
