JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Part-Time Student Photographer - Campus Recreation
The Part-Time Student Photographer plays a critical role in capturing high-quality visual content to support Campus Recreation's marketing and communication efforts. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, this position documents events, programs, and services through photography and videography to enhance engagement with Penn State University Park students while maintaining University brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Photography & Videography
    • Capture high-quality images and video content that align with Campus Recreation's marketing goals and branding guidelines.
    • Attend events and programs to document student engagement and facility usage.
    • Edit and prepare photos and videos for social media, promotional materials, and digital platforms.
    • Ensure consistency in visual content to support a cohesive brand identity.
  • Content Curation & Collaboration
    • Assist in curating and organizing visual assets for marketing and promotional use.
    • Work closely with the marketing team, including the Project Coordinator and Assistant Director, to fulfill creative requests.
    • Coordinate photography schedules, shot lists, and production details with team members.
  • Professionalism & Engagement
    • Serve as a brand ambassador for Campus Recreation, both on and off the job.
    • Maintain open and frequent communication with the supervisory team.
    • Positively engage with patrons and staff while representing Campus Recreation in diverse settings.

Preferred Experience & Skills
Candidates with experience (academic or non-academic) in photography, videography, social media, or communications are highly preferred. Additional preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience using a DSLR or mirrorless camera in manual mode.
  • Proficiency in Adobe editing software, including Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interact positively with patrons and employees.

Work Environment & Requirements
  • Work will take place on the University Park campus.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a background check.
  • This role requires flexibility to accommodate a variable schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and University breaks.
