JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Abington LaunchBox seeks qualified candidates for the opening of LaunchBox Amplifier Intern, reporting to the Abington LaunchBox Director.

Job DutiesThe Abington LaunchBox Director will function as the site supervisor. The duties of the opening include:
  • Being available and dedicated to scheduled work hours.
  • Maintaining and communicating information about Abington LaunchBox events and workshops.
  • Supporting Abington LaunchBox physical spaces and labs (IDEA Zone, Amplification Lab for podcasting, and Mini Makerspace).
  • Updating and maintaining Abington LaunchBox events calendars.
  • Creating and updating Abington LaunchBox marketing and educational materials.
Requirements and QualificationsThe ideal candidate for this opening is an undergraduate student who meets the following criteria:
  • Full-time student status at Penn State Abington with a preferred minimum of 60 credits (third-year standing).
  • GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Demonstrable self-direction, leadership, organization, and/or interaction skills through a record of prior employment and/or academic achievement.
  • Employment with the University for this job will require successful completion of the Pennsylvania (PA) Publicly Available Clearances: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and the FBI Criminal History Background Check.

It is highly preferred that the candidate can demonstrate proficiency with one or more of the following digital skills:
  • 3D Printing and vinyl cutting machine setup and operation through through design proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Tinkercad, and/or Fusion 360 and machine interface through Cura Slicing Software.
  • Video capture and editing proficiency in Adobe Premier and/or other video editing software
  • Audio capture and editing proficiency in Adobe Audition and/or other audio editing software
  • Marketing material development proficiency in Adobe Express, Adobe InDesign, or Canva.
  • Additionally, the candidate will be able to demonstrate high level written and oral communication skills, create marketing and presentation materials, and interact with members of the Penn State Abington Entrepreneurial Ecosystem that includes students, staff, faculty, community members, business owners, and local legislators.

Available hours are negotiable based on schedule of candidate and the Abington LaunchBox Director. Current staffing needs allocate approximately 10 to 20 hours per week for the student opening.
