Summary: Student workers for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while continuing their education. The primary responsibility of a student worker is to assist in their assigned department or site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs general clerical duties, this includes but is not limited to photocopying, filing, computer work, typing, data entry, answering the telephone, directing calls, and mail pick-up and dissemination.
    • Answer, screen, or forward calls, this includes: providing information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments.
  • Assists with district events coordination before, during, and after events.
  • Typing of routine and simple materials (cards, labels, envelopes, short letters, etc.).

JESSI (Jobs for ESS Students Initiative) Part-time Student Workers
JESSI is an initiative aimed at providing opportunities for students with disabilities an opportunity to obtain gainful employment to increase employment readiness through the use of work skills and employability acquired in the classroom. It is a collaborative effort among EBR schools, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, and Opportunity Now. JESSI Employs students for part-time positions in schools and departments for up to 240 hrs. during the school year and summer.

Essential Functions/Qualifications/Requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • Currently enrolled, full-time EBRPSS student
  • Currently enrolled, full-time student at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university

Technological Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in general use of a computer, the use of Email as a form of communication, and other job-specific equipment, software, and/or applications.
