POSITION TITLE: Staffing Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Nursing

EMPLOYEE REPORTS TO: DON, CNO/CEO

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, Part-time, or Per Diem


This job description is a record of the essential functions of the listed job. POSITION SUMMARY

Using independent judgment, the Staffing Coordinator is responsible to provide staffing and other support as necessary hospital-wide. The Staffing Coordinator must possess good organization and advanced word processing skills. The Staffing Coordinator must have a pleasant personality with the ability to establish good working relationships with varying personalities (co-workers and the public). This position does not provide direct patient care. The primary purpose of this role is to allow the Chief Nursing Officer, Acute Nursing Manager, and Director of Skilled Nursing to appropriately staff, supervise, and administer the clinical functions of the hospital. This position is responsible to put together the four week schedule for nursing and other assigned departments following scheduling guidelines and local practices for approval by the CNO/DON/NS. In addition, this position is responsible to forecast staffing needs so that emergencies in staffing are avoided and the hospital can provide safe care for all admissions. This position maintains all agency files and contracts and ensures that all agency staff are oriented, evaluated, have active and valid license, and meet the same standards as employed staff. This position reconciles Agency invoice with the schedule and ensures accurate and timely processing of invoices and accruals. This position also ensures that all Agency personnel are fully compliant with agency badge and punch policy. This position also reconciles the nursing time and attendance/payroll and works with the CNO/DON/NS regarding any time and attendance schedule discrepancies. This position also maintains accurate time and attendance logs for clinical staff and disciplinary forms for the CNO/DON/NS according to policy. This position, to be effective must have a person with exceptional intrapersonal skills. Detailed knowledge of staff preferences and work availability are essential. This position is not a conduit agency use. This position needs to be part of a strategy for Agency Reduction.This position may not accept gifts, lunches, or meet with representatives of outside agencies .

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

The Staffing Coordinator must be a high school graduate or GED equivalent. He/she must have advanced knowledge in word processing and forms creation and be technically literate in the Microsoft Office suite of products (including Outlook). He/she must also possess excellent telephone, communication, and people skills. The Staffing Coordinator must have the ability to prioritize, organize, handle multiple projects, work under pressure, and complete assignments in a timely fashion under frequent and numerous deadlines. Ability to maintain assigned work hours: Requires endurance to perform tasks over long periods of work hours.
