Heather Gardens Association (HGA) is seeking engaging and experienced Part-Time Instructors to provide educational, recreational, and fitness programming for our vibrant 55+ community.

We are seeking an instructor experienced in:

  • Fused Glass
  • Stained Glass
  • Kiln Work
  • Glass Cutting & Assembly
  • Beginner to Intermediate Glass Art Instruction

Position Overview

The Glass Art Instructor leads structured classes and workshops focused on glass art techniques within their area of expertise. This role ensures participants receive high-quality instruction in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment while supporting the continued growth of Clubhouse arts programming.


This position is responsible for teaching students how to safely design, create, and complete glass art projects using various tools, materials, and equipment commonly associated with fused glass and stained-glass art.


This is a part-time, non-benefits-eligible position paid at an hourly rate for classes worked.


Schedules vary and may include combinations of:

  • Monday / Wednesday / Friday
  • Tuesday / Thursday
  • Fridays only
  • Or a customized combination based on program needs


Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct glass art classes and workshops for beginner through intermediate-level students.
  • Teach various glass art techniques including fused glass, stained glass, kiln-forming, glass cutting, grinding, polishing, and soldering.
  • Demonstrate proper use of tools, materials, and studio equipment.
  • Provide individualized instruction, encouragement, and constructive feedback to participants.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized studio environment.
  • Enforce all studio safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Monitor safe operation of kilns, grinders, cutters, soldering tools, and related equipment.
  • Prepare class materials and projects in advance of scheduled classes.
  • Maintain inventory awareness and communicate supply needs to management.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable learning environment for residents.
  • Support positive resident engagement and customer service.
  • Participate in occasional resident art displays, showcases, or special events as requested.


Qualifications

  • Experience in glass arts, fused glass, stained glass, kiln-forming, or related artistic disciplines required.
  • Prior teaching, workshop facilitation, or instructional experience preferred.
  • Experience working with adult learners or active adult communities preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a positive classroom environment.
  • Knowledge of studio safety practices and proper equipment operation required.


Experience working with mature adults or 55+ communities is highly preferred.


Compensation (Colorado Pay Transparency)

The hourly pay range for this position is $24.00 โ€“ $35.00 per class hour, depending on qualifications and experience.


  • New hires will not exceed $35.00 per class hour.
  • Compensation is paid for scheduled class instruction time.
  • Actual placement within the range is determined based on skills, certifications, relevant experience, market considerations, and internal equity.
