Position Summary:

We're not looking for someone to manage channels. We're looking for someone to build an influence engine.

As Director of Social Media and Digital Influence, you'll have the rare opportunity to build a modern, global social function from the ground up, shaping the strategy, team, processes, and measurement framework that turn Bentley's social presence into a strategic growth driver.

This is a role for a leader who thinks beyond posts and metrics. You'll operate at the intersection of executive storytelling, employee advocacy, creator partnerships, community building, video-first content, and AI-powered production, while partnering closely with Brand, Product Marketing, Communications, and Events teams to amplify Bentley's voice where it matters most.

You're equally at home crafting a thought leadership narrative for a C-suite executive and building scalable operating models for a growing team. You'll start by leading a focused team of one full-time social media specialist and one part-time coordinator, with a clear mandate to grow it into a world-class global function over time.

Responsibilities:

  • Build the Social Media Function
    • Create Bentley's global social media strategy and operating model with prioritization of channels and business logic for that prioritization.
    • Define team structure, workflows, governance, editorial planning, and measurement.
    • Build scalable processes for content creation, approvals, publishing, engagement, and reporting.
    • Establish social media best practices across regions, business units, and functions.
    • Develop annual plans, budgets, and growth roadmaps.
  • Executive Thought Leadership
    • Partner with senior executives to grow their presence and influence across LinkedIn and emerging channels.
    • Create executive content programs that elevate industry leadership and support strategic business priorities.
    • Identify opportunities to position executives around AI, infrastructure, digital twins, sustainability, engineering innovation, and industry transformation.
  • Corporate Social Strategy
    • Lead Bentley's global social presence across LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, X, Facebook, and emerging platforms.
    • Develop channel-specific strategies and audience engagement plans.
    • Increase reach, engagement, share of voice, and follower quality.
    • Ensure a consistent brand voice while adapting content to platform dynamics.
  • Digital Influence & Community
    • Build programs that activate employees, customers, partners, industry experts, and advocates.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage creators, influencers, practitioners, and industry voices.
    • Develop strategies for community engagement across social channels and professional communities.
    • Support developer and technical communities in partnership with product and developer relations teams.
  • Content & Storytelling
    • In partnership with the key marketing stakeholders, own the creation and proliferation of social-first content including:
      • Short-form video
      • Executive content
      • Customer stories

      • Product launches
      • Educational content

    • Partner with communications, content, design, and video teams to maximize content reuse and distribution.
  • AI & Innovation

    • Continuously improve team productivity through automation and AI-enabled processes.
  • Measurement & Analytics
    • Define KPIs and executive dashboards.
    • Track full funnel performance across channels.
    • Analyze trends and provide recommendations for optimization.
    • Establish attribution frameworks connecting social activity to marketing and business outcomes.
  • Success Metrics - This leader will be accountable for:

  • 10+ years of experience in social media, digital marketing, communications, or content leadership roles within a B2B SaaS organization.
  • Experience building or significantly transforming a social media function.
  • Strong understanding of LinkedIn and executive thought leadership programs.
  • Experience leading teams and managing agency partners.
  • Exceptional storytelling and editorial judgment.
  • Strong analytical and performance measurement skills.
  • Experience working with senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered content creation and social media tools.

Preferred

  • Experience in infrastructure, engineering, or industrial markets.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership teams and public company communications.
