This position is being posted on behalf of One50Fitness.


The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading and teaching group exercise classes that inspire, motivate, and engage participants of all fitness levels. The role requires a dynamic, high-energy individual who is passionate about fitness, has excellent communication skills, and is capable of creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all class participants. Instructors will teach a variety of classes, including but not limited to strength training, cardio, yoga, HIIT, and dance. This is a part-time position.

  • Class Instruction: Lead group fitness classes in a safe, fun, and engaging manner, catering to various fitness levels.
  • Program Design: Plan and prepare class routines that are effective, engaging, and meet the goals of the participants, including warm-ups, main workout segments, and cool-downs.
  • Safety & Modifications: Ensure that all participants are performing exercises with proper form to avoid injury, offering modifications for different fitness levels or physical limitations.
  • Motivation & Engagement: Provide encouragement and positive feedback throughout the class to foster a motivating and supportive environment for participants.
  • Customer Service: Greet participants before class, maintain a positive, approachable demeanor, and address any participant concerns or feedback.
  • Class Management: Arrive on time for classes, maintain an organized schedule, and manage attendance as required.
  • Equipment Management: Set up, break down, and ensure the proper use of class equipment. Ensure equipment is stored properly and safely after each session.
  • Class Promotion: Promote group fitness classes and encourage participant engagement through word-of-mouth and social media, helping to build a strong group fitness community.
  • Adherence to Policies: Follow all safety protocols, policies, and procedures outlined by the facility and ensure that participants do the same.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest trends, certifications, and best practices in fitness and group exercise, and attend relevant training or workshops as required by the facility.
Requirements:

Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification: Certified group fitness instructor (e.g., AFAA, ACE, etc.) or equivalent. Specialty certifications for certain class types (e.g., pilates, yoga, Zumba) are a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching group fitness classes, preferably in a variety of formats.
  • Energy & Enthusiasm: A high level of energy, enthusiasm, and passion for fitness that will motivate and engage participants.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to lead a class, give clear instructions, and provide feedback to participants.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to connect with individuals and create an inclusive, positive environment that encourages people of all fitness levels to participate.
  • Adaptability: Ability to modify classes based on participant needs and the fitness level of the group, while still maintaining the integrity of the workout.
  • Professionalism: Punctual, dependable, and adheres to the dress code and other facility standards.
  • Knowledge of Fitness Principles: A strong understanding of fitness principles, exercise techniques, and class structure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional Certifications: Certifications in specialty classes such as HIIT, bootcamp, kettlebell, or other popular formats are a plus.
  • CPR/AED Certification: Current certification in CPR and AED.
  • Experience in Specialized Fitness: Experience or training in teaching particular fitness styles or working with specific populations (e.g., senior fitness, Pilates, etc.) is an advantage.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate exercises and maintain high levels of physical activity for extended periods during class.
  • Capable of lifting and setting up equipment as needed for various types of classes.

Work Schedule

  • Flexible availability to teach classes during peak hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to teach a variety of class formats as needed by the fitness center.
