The Residential Registered Nurse oversees the day-to-day operations of the Residential staff and ensures quality of care throughout Residential. They carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: staff direction and development, direct care and medication delegation, quality assurance and improvement, and DHS 13, 83, 88, and chapter 50 & 51 compliance. They will also assist in Clarity Care’s Occupational Health Department.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Delegate and monitor medication responsibilities to Residential staff in compliance with DHS 83 & DHS 88 to ensure Member health.
  2. In collaboration with Residential Management, assess the medical needs of Residential Members upon admission and readmission from hospital/skilled nursing facility, and change in medical condition.
  3. Give Residential employees written instructions about the services to be performed and demonstrate to the Residential employees how to perform the services.
  4. Assist with Member’s Plan of Care in accordance with the Member’s needs as directed by physician(s) and Clarity Care policy.
  5. Monitor and ensure proper administration of medications by Residential staff.
  6. Assist the QA Department by ensuring medications are delivered in a safe and accurate manner.
  7. Assist the QA Department to ensure consumer safety and departmental uniformity.
  8. Respond to life saving/emergency situations based upon nursing standards.
  9. Communicate with Residential Management and other appropriate parties regarding Member health status. 
  10. Explain medical procedures and treatments to Members and staff to gain cooperation and understanding. 
  11. Work with the Residential Management to create continuity of care for Members receiving home health or hospice.
  12. Provide situation specific training to Residential staff on an as needed basis.
  13. Provide required trainings to New Hires that is proctored through our Training Institute.
  14. Comply with all State, Federal, and Nursing regulations.
  15. Participate in the agency’s Occupational Health program by screening the health of new employees.
  16. Administer, read and document results of a 2 step TB test on new employees.
  17. Conduct COVID-19 testing and fit testing of respirators upon request.

Education and Qualifications:

  1. Current licensure as a registered nurse under s.441.06, Wis. Stats.
  2. Two years of experience working with persons with developmental and physical disabilities is preferred.
  3. Training and experience in the provision of personal care services or in a related program.
  4. Understanding of DHS 13, 83, 88, and chapter 50 & 51 regulations. 
  5. Approved instructor on CBRF registry for Medication Administration, First Aid, Fire Safety, and Standard Precautions preferred.
  6. Frequent travel to group homes throughout Northeastern Wisconsin is required.
  7. Possess computer skills to include but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  8. An energetic, outgoing, detail-oriented person who demonstrates strong communication and training skills.
  9. Must possess a valid WI driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving standards.  Must provide proof of auto insurance.
  10. Must pass a periodic WI Caregiver Background Checks including Department of Justice Criminal Record Checks, and/or that of previous states of residence.
