Part Time Remote Government information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Remote Government employee, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Remote Government employee, you generally need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in public administration or a related field. Familiarity with government databases, secure communication platforms, and productivity tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace is often required. Excellent written communication, time management, and self-motivation are valuable soft skills for effectively balancing remote work responsibilities. These competencies ensure reliable service delivery, data integrity, and effective collaboration within the constraints of a remote public sector environment.

What is the easiest part-time remote job to get?

Part-time remote government roles such as data entry, administrative support, or customer service are often considered easier to obtain due to lower experience requirements and the availability of entry-level positions. These jobs typically require basic computer skills, familiarity with office software, and sometimes a background check, making them accessible for many job seekers.

Does the government hire remote workers?

Yes, many government agencies hire remote workers for various roles, especially in administrative, IT, and policy positions. These jobs often require security clearances, specific certifications, or experience with government systems, and may be available as part-time or full-time remote opportunities.

How to make 2000 a week working from home?

Part Time Remote Government jobs typically do not pay $2000 weekly due to their part-time nature; earning that amount usually requires full-time positions or multiple roles. To reach higher earnings, consider acquiring relevant skills such as data analysis or administrative support, and seek remote roles with higher pay scales or freelance opportunities that offer flexible schedules and competitive pay. Building experience and certifications can also improve earning potential in remote government or related fields.

What are some common challenges faced in a part-time remote government position, and how can I overcome them?

In a part-time remote government role, common challenges include adapting to strict security protocols, managing time effectively due to limited hours, and maintaining clear communication with your team. To overcome these, familiarize yourself with government cybersecurity standards, use scheduling tools to stay organized, and proactively engage with colleagues through regular virtual check-ins. Being proactive about asking questions and seeking feedback ensures you stay aligned with your team’s goals and meet compliance requirements.

What are part time remote government jobs?

Part time remote government jobs are positions within government agencies that allow employees to work fewer than full-time hours and perform their duties from a location outside the official office, usually from home. These roles can include administrative support, data analysis, customer service, IT, and more. They are ideal for individuals seeking flexibility while contributing to public service, and are available at federal, state, and local government levels. Eligibility and application processes may vary depending on the specific agency and position.

Job description

About Us

Anthos|Home is a nonprofit startup focused on creating a new way home for New Yorkers with housing vouchers. We streamline the apartment search, approval, and move-in process using technology to move people into stable housing faster. We believe every person deserves a place to blossom, and we're building the tools, systems, and teams to make that possible.

Our Culture

At Anthos|Home, urgency drives our work because every day in shelter matters. We are focused on helping people move into stable housing as quickly as possible and continuously improving how we get there.

We are looking for team members who are highly data-oriented, tech-savvy, and comfortable learning new systems. Strong candidates value accuracy, use data to inform decisions, and actively improve how information is tracked and shared.

We value people who are thoughtful, adaptable, and detail-oriented, and who follow through, communicate openly, and take ownership of their work. How effectively we use data and technology directly impacts how quickly people get home.

The Role

Anthos|Home is seeking a detail-oriented Government Contracts Billing Specialist to support invoicing, payment tracking, and revenue reconciliation across a portfolio of government-funded programs. This role is ideal for an accounting clerk, billing specialist, accounts receivable professional, or finance administrator who enjoys working with data, maintaining organized records, and ensuring invoices and payments are processed accurately and on time. The Government Contracts Billing Specialist will be reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration.

In this role, the Specialist will manage billing activities for contracts and programs funded through agencies such as HUD, New York State OTDA, NYC HRA, Medicaid-funded Social Care Network services, and other government funding sources. Responsibilities include preparing invoices, tracking submission deadlines, monitoring payments received, reconciling revenue, researching discrepancies, and maintaining accurate billing records. This role requires fluency in both Spanish and English (written and verbal), as the Specialist will engage a diverse set of communities across New York City.

This is a part-time position averaging approximately 20 hours per week. Employees are expected to maintain a consistent schedule of approximately 10 core hours each week to support collaboration. The remaining hours may be worked flexibly during typical business hours (i.e., Monday through Friday 8 AM-6 PM) based on employee preference and workload requirements in consideration of operational needs. This position is predominantly remote with occasional in-person meetings as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit invoices for government-funded contracts and programs.
  • Track billing deadlines, submission requirements, and payment due dates.
  • Monitor invoice status and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Reconcile payments received to invoices submitted and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain billing trackers and accounts receivable records in Excel and other systems.
  • Support Medicaid billing and reimbursement activities, including claim tracking and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with program and finance staff to obtain required supporting documentation.
  • Maintain organized records to support audits, contract monitoring, and compliance reviews.
  • Prepare regular reports on invoicing activity, collections, outstanding balances, and revenue trends.
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, accuracy, and collection timelines.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 2+ Years in an Accounting Clerk/Billing Associate based role, or an associate's degree in accounting or a similar field with 1+ years relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in working under deadlines and handling multiple priorities.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Working knowledge of Excel or similar software.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in billing, accounts receivable, accounting support, bookkeeping, or finance administration.
  • Experience invoicing government agencies, nonprofit funders, healthcare payers, or managed care organizations.
  • Tech-savvy and quick to learn new tools and systems; Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, filtering, and reconciliation tracking.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid billing, government contracts, grants, or reimbursement-based funding is a plus.

Compensation and Work Environment

  • Competitive pay in the range of $35,000 - $40,000/year, depending on experience.
  • Part-time position approximately 20 hours/week
    • 10 core, fixed hours/week with flexible remaining hours anytime during M-F 8am-6pm
  • Predominantly remote work environment with occasional in-person meetings
  • Full benefits eligibility begins at 30 hours per week. At 15 to 25 hours per week, this role is not currently eligible for the full benefits package, though there may be potential for hours to grow over time.
