Your next role: This position is seeking a highly skilled part-time Copywriter to join our growing US Marketing team. This role is ideal for a sharp, creative storyteller who can translate complex engineering, sustainability, and urban development topics into compelling, accessible narratives. As part of our multidisciplinary global practice, you will contribute to high-impact thought leadership, project stories, and editorial-grade content that elevates our brand and showcases the remarkable work we do across the United States. You will collaborate with technical leaders and marketing colleagues across geographies and specialties, shaping content that embodies clarity, rigor, and imagination. Your Key Duties: Content Development
  • Write clear, engaging, and technically informed content for website articles, project stories, proposals, blogs, award submissions, and thought - leadership pieces.
  • Translate complex engineering, planning, sustainability, and advisory concepts into accessible, compelling narratives that reflect our brand voice.
  • Craft long - form and short - form content, including research-based insights, in-depth interviews, feature stories, and Q&A documents.
  • Develop editorial - quality narratives tailored to diverse audiences, including clients, partners, policymakers, and the general public.
  • Conduct interviews with senior technical experts and project leaders to extract key insights and shape them into strong storylines.
Editorial & Brand Stewardship
  • Maintain Buro Happold's editorial standards, ensuring clarity, consistency, and adherence to tone of voice.
  • Edit and refine content produced by colleagues to elevate quality and alignment with brand guidelines.
  • Ensure accuracy, technical credibility, and narrative strength across all written materials.
  • Partner with designers to bring stories to life visually through graphics, imagery, and layout suggestions.
Collaboration & Workflow
  • Work closely with the US Head of Marketing and Communications and global content leads to prioritize writing needs and manage a steady pipeline of assignments.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts across disciplines and offices to gather information and validate technical content.
  • Support campaign storytelling, thought leadership initiatives, and strategic communications projects.
  • Contribute ideas to improve content strategy, voice, and storytelling approaches across the firm.
Your skills and experience
  • 5+ years of professional writing or editorial experience, ideally within architecture, engineering, urban planning, sustainability, or another technical or journalistic field.
  • A background in journalism, communications, English, marketing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills; ability to turn a blank page and complex ideas into polished, compelling narratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to interview technical experts and distill insights into strong, structured content.
  • Strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, marketers, and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively in a part - time structure.
  • Highly proficient with all Microsoft applications
  • Knowledge or interest in learning WordPress
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in design, architecture, engineering, sustainability and urban planning
  • Curious, detail-oriented mind with an emphasis on quality, accuracy and engagement
  • Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
