Part Time Photogrammetry information

What is a part time photogrammetrist?

A part-time photogrammetrist is a professional who works reduced hours to create accurate maps, 3D models, or measurements using photographs, typically aerial or satellite images. Their work involves using specialized software to analyze images and extract spatial information for industries like construction, land surveying, urban planning, and environmental monitoring. Part-time roles may focus on specific projects or provide support to full-time teams, offering flexibility for students or those seeking work-life balance. Strong computer skills and attention to detail are important for success in this field.

What does a part time photogrammetrist do?

In a part-time photogrammetry role, you will typically work on projects involving the creation of maps, 3D models, and spatial data from photographic images. Daily tasks often include processing aerial or drone imagery, using specialized software to produce accurate measurements, and collaborating with surveyors or GIS specialists. Depending on the employer, you may also assist with data verification, quality control, and report generation. The role usually offers flexibility in hours but requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a part time photogrammetrist?

To excel in a part time photogrammetry role, a background in geography, surveying, or a related field, along with proficiency in spatial analysis, is generally required. Familiarity with GIS software, photogrammetric processing tools like Agisoft Metashape or Pix4D, and experience with remote sensing data are typically needed. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help individuals stand out. These competencies are crucial to ensure accurate data collection, processing, and interpretation for mapping and modeling projects.
