How much do part time per diem jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 10, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time per diem in the United States is $21.45, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.51 and $23.32 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How do scheduling and shift selection typically work for part-time per diem positions?

In part-time per diem roles, scheduling is usually highly flexible, allowing employees to select shifts based on their availability and the organization's needs. Employers often use online scheduling systems, where per diem staff can sign up for open shifts or indicate their preferred working times. However, shifts may fill up quickly, so proactive communication with scheduling coordinators and regular monitoring of shift postings are important. This flexibility can be ideal for those balancing multiple commitments, but it may also mean inconsistent hours depending on demand.

What is the 70 30 rule in hiring?

The 70/30 rule in hiring suggests that 70% of a candidate's evaluation should focus on skills, experience, and qualifications, while 30% should consider cultural fit and soft skills. For part-time per diem roles, this balance helps ensure candidates meet job requirements while aligning with team dynamics.

What is the difference between Part Time Per Diem vs Part Time Contract Nurse?

AspectPart Time Per DiemPart Time Contract Nurse
CredentialsLicensed Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)Licensed RN or LPN, often with specific contract requirements
Work EnvironmentHospitals, clinics, healthcare facilities, on an as-needed basisSimilar healthcare settings, with defined contract terms
Employer UsageHospitals and healthcare providers for staffing flexibilityHealthcare agencies or facilities for temporary staffing
Work ScheduleOn-call, as needed, no guaranteed hoursScheduled shifts per contract, with defined hours

Part Time Per Diem nurses work on an as-needed basis without guaranteed hours, offering flexibility. Part Time Contract Nurses have scheduled shifts based on a contract, providing more stability. Both roles require similar credentials and are common in healthcare settings, but differ mainly in scheduling and employment structure.

How to make 2000 a week working from home?

Part time per diem roles typically do not pay $2000 weekly due to their hourly or project-based nature. To earn that amount from home, individuals often need to combine multiple freelance, consulting, or specialized remote jobs, develop in-demand skills, and work consistently. Building a strong schedule and leveraging platforms for remote work can help increase earnings, but reaching $2000 weekly usually requires significant experience and multiple income streams.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Part-time per diem roles typically do not pay $4,000 a week due to their limited hours and pay structure. High-paying jobs that can reach this level without a degree often include specialized trades like commercial driving, certain sales positions, or freelance work such as consulting or skilled trades, which may require experience or certifications rather than formal education.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Part Time Per Diem position, and why are they important?

To excel in a Part Time Per Diem role, you generally need relevant job-specific skills and qualifications, such as a professional license or certification if required by the field. Familiarity with industry-standard tools, systems, or scheduling software is often expected to adapt quickly to varying assignments. Flexibility, reliability, and strong communication are crucial soft skills for succeeding in roles with irregular hours and changing environments. These skills enable Per Diem employees to deliver consistent performance and integrate smoothly into different teams on short notice.

Is it better to work per diem or part-time?

Part time jobs typically offer a consistent schedule and benefits, while per diem positions provide flexible hours and are often paid higher hourly rates. The choice depends on your need for stability versus flexibility and your ability to handle variable work hours.

What is a Part Time Per Diem job?

A Part Time Per Diem job refers to a position where employees work on an as-needed basis, rather than having a regular, set schedule. 'Per diem' means 'per day,' so workers are typically scheduled for shifts when there is extra demand or to cover absences. This type of job offers flexibility and is common in fields like healthcare and education. Part time per diem workers are usually paid only for the hours or days they work, and they may not receive the same benefits as full-time employees.
