Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota.
Job Summary
This full-time position provides overall leadership, management, and long-term planning for the Cath Lab. This position works in collaboration with the Senior Director of Service Lines in providing guidance and supervision of clinical positions in the department. This position leads the overall management, operations, and communications for the department and provides financial and budgetary management, recruitment, retention, and staff development.
Responsibilities include:
  • Supervises day-to-day Cath Lab duties and patient scheduling, resolves physician, practitioner, patient, and staff issues, and ensures that professional, regulatory, and legal requirements are met.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels and overtime utilization within budget, approves employee timecards, and maintains payroll information.
  • Participates in the assessment of staffing needs, maintains master work schedule, adjusts staffing, and forecasts staffing needs.
  • Participates in the interview process, provides information on disciplinary actions, and mentors staff.
  • Assists in Service Line planning and development.
  • Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
  • Performs direct patient care to maintain staffing requirements including appropriate call rotation. Includes Cath Lab roles of scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and/or special procedures including PICC line insertions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications
Education and/or Experience
A nursing degree is required; the candidate must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and holds a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of South Dakota.
A minimum of three (3) years of leadership and management experience in the area of responsibility is desired.
Experience in human relations skills and effective oral and written communication skills are required.
Proficient in the use of computer and electronic medical record systems, including MS Office and Excel.

Computer Skills
Microsoft applications, CPSI, eCW, and other electronic databases that support data collection and reporting.
