What is a Part Time Pattern Making job?

A Part-Time Pattern Making job involves creating templates for garments or other sewn products based on design specifications. To thrive as a Part Time Pattern Maker, you need a solid understanding of garment construction, textile properties, and pattern drafting, often supported by relevant fashion design or pattern making education. Familiarity with technical tools such as CAD pattern making software (like Gerber or Optitex) and proficiency in manual drafting techniques are commonly required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and clear communication skills help you work effectively within a design or production team. These skills are crucial for ensuring accurate, production-ready patterns that meet design specifications and deadlines.
