Job description

The Connecticut Humane Society, located in Wilton, is seeking a part-time Porter to help keep our brand-new facility sparkling.  This position will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors; cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies. 
  • Waste Management: Emptying trash cans and recycling bins throughout the facility.
  • Maintenance Support: Performing minor repairs, such as changing light bulbs, fixing small issues, acting as liaison with vendors, patching/painting, constructing or moving furniture, transporting things to and from other facilities and purchasing necessary facilities items. Will also support set-up and take-down of on-site events.

Position Overview
Title: Porter

Overview: This part time position is not benefit eligible. The ideal applicant is able to work proactively and with different communication styles. Interested individuals must be able to handle multiple priorities and enjoy a busy environment. This position requires one to have basic computer skills to track projects and check and respond to emails. This position may include a weekend schedule.

Pay Range: $19.00-22.00/ hour
Days / Hours of Operation: Schedule to be determined by incumbent and the managers.

  • Skills: Ability to perform physically strenuous activities which will require lifting of moderate to heavy weights (up to 40 lbs.),standing and/or bending, pushing brooms and/or mops, and sitting at a desk for long periods of time. Prior experience in a similar position is preferred. Some weekend work required.
  • Technology: Basic proficiency with computers.
