A CLASS INSTRUCTOR VI (PART-TIME TEMPORARY) is an essential member of our team, we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV'S growing success! Please thoroughly review the information and selection process outlined below this announcement.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION:

  • Part-Time/Temporary Position - This position is a part time/temporary position and DOES NOT include health or medical benefits. Hours for this position will not exceed 938 per calendar year.
  • Pay Considerations - The hourly pay for this position is $13.
  • Work Schedule - The work hours varies (days, swings or graveyard) depending on the worksite's need. May be working an average of 19 hours per week during off season and 40+ hours during summer season - May through September. This position may be required to work holidays. Hours will not exceed 938 per calendar year.
  • Work location - Various recreational centers throughout North Las Vegas (please choose from dropdown menu your location preference.

THE ROLE:
Under the direction of the recreation programmer for classes, perform a variety of duties instructing or leading individuals in a variety of recreation classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Class Instructor IV
  • This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience supervising and/or teaching a program/class directly related to the class/program area to be taught.
  • Advanced professional certifications related to the program area being taught are preferred and may be required dependent on the program area.
  • Incumbents will supervise/teach programs and/or classes independently. Incumbents may be responsible for the supervision of Class Instructors I - III. Please review Class Instructor I-IV job duties and requirements above.
    Licenses and Certifications
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate may be required at time of hire/reclassification, dependent on program area.
  • Advanced certifications related to the program area being taught may be required.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver's license within required time frame.

SELECTION PROCESS:
  1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City's application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. Oral Panel Interview - Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%
  3. Pre-Employment Screening - Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; drug screening; and a Child Abuse & Neglect Registry clearance for applicants 18 years of age or above.
