Job description

Position Objective:

This position instructs prospective parents and grandparents in infant care, self-care following delivery, or breast-feeding an infant according to guidelines established by the perinatal unit.

Essential Job Duties:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions 

  1. Teaches class covering all points on established outline, allowing sufficient time for class participation.
  2. Plans and prepares class materials according to established routine. Registers clients and document incentives according to guidelines.
  3. Performs evaluation responsibilities and participates in quality improvement process.
  4. Obtains needed supplies and equipment for class. Cleans teaching area and return supplies and equipment to proper storage area after class.
  5. Communicates as necessary to coordinator or appropriate CHP staff and attends instructor meetings as scheduled by coordinator

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • BSN required.
  • At least six months experience in Maternal-Child Health or Certificate in Early Childhood curriculum and Development.
  • One year experience working with children under the age of two.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.

Required License/Certifications: 

  • Current licensure as a RN
  • Certificate in Early Childhood curriculum and Development preferred.
