TITLE: Part-Time Paraprofessional

ENTITY: Notre Dame Catholic School, Denver, Colorado - Archdiocese of Denver

START DATE: August 10, 2026

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Support, School Principal


THE POSITION:

Notre Dame Catholic School seeks a faith-filled, compassionate, and dedicated part-time paraprofessional to support inclusive Catholic education through a grant provided by the FIRE Foundation of Denver. This position plays a vital role in serving students with special needs under the direction of the Director of Student Support, classroom teacher, and principal.


The ideal candidate brings enthusiasm for fostering communication, patience in meeting diverse learning needs, and a deep commitment to the dignity of every child as rooted in Catholic teaching.


Position Overview

The Classroom Paraprofessional provides:

  • In-classroom support for all students in an inclusive learning environmentย 
  • Compassionate, patient, and resilient assistance for students with moderate to intensive special needsย 
  • Direct support for students, including facilitating communication with peers, faculty, and staffย 
  • Collaboration with the Director of Student Support, homeroom teacher, and school leadership to ensure student successย 
  • Academic, social, emotional, and physical support in alignment with student goalsย 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize multisensory and adaptive strategies to keep students engaged, motivated, and included in the general education settingย 
  • Support students in achieving academic and developmental goals in the least restrictive environmentย 
  • Assist in facilitating student communication using appropriate tools and strategiesย 
  • Collaborate and consult regularly with the Director of Student Support to ensure effective service deliveryย 
  • Follow a structured daily schedule to provide consistent and effective supportย 
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staffย 
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environmentย 
  • Help modify instructional materials to meet individual student needsย 
  • Provide caregiving and physical support, including assisting with mobility and personal care as neededย 
  • Monitor student behavior and support a focused, respectful classroom environmentย 
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunitiesย 
  • Uphold the dignity of the human person, by fostering an inclusive school culture rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school leadershipย 
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Prior experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, preferredย 
  • Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a caring, encouraging dispositionย 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skillsย 
  • Willingness to learn specialized communication methods
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and school leadershipย 
  • Dependable, punctual, and professionalย 
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic educationย 
  • Ability to assist with physical tasks, including lifting, standing, bending, and supporting student mobility
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferredย 
  • Must successfully complete a background check and Safe Environment requirement

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
