Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, patient monitoring equipment, and certifications like BLS and ACLS is typically required. Exceptional communication, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are vital soft skills for this role. What are the most common challenges faced by part-time PACU RNs, and how can they be managed?

Part-time PACU RNs often face challenges related to staying updated with unit protocols and maintaining continuity of care due to less frequent shifts. Additionally, adapting quickly to post-anesthesia patient needs and collaborating with multiple surgical teams can be demanding. To manage these challenges, regular communication with full-time staff, attending ongoing training sessions, and thorough handoff practices are essential. Being proactive in seeking updates and feedback also helps maintain high-quality patient care and smooth workflow integration.
