HOURS: ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  24-28 hours per week; Monday - Friday

MINIMUM AGE: ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  18 years

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is year-round, part time position working the Senior Services Desk and assisting with the Senior Services Travel Program and Travel Club. The employee will handle customer concerns while projecting a positive image of the organization. Emphasis is placed on customer service. The employee works under the supervision of the division supervisor. The employee interacts in a consistently pleasant and helpful manner to fellow employees, volunteers and customers. This position will also handle incoming calls and customers to the senior services department and assist in other areas as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Delivers superior customer service.
  • Greets customers and answers telephone at the senior desk.
  • Handles cash transactions and registration.
  • Assists in the scheduling of trips
  • Assists with Dearborn Seniors Travel Club
  • Makes daily calls to seniors enrolled in telephone reassurance program.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience in coordinating or scheduling programs and services.
  • Experience in working with older adults.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, and to demonstrate initiative in performance of theย 
  • work.
  • Ability to follow established departmental procedures, learn new tasks and adapt to operational changes
  • readily.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in an effective manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with other employees, program
  • participants, and the general public.
  • Knowledge of computer business applications and/or computer software registration systems.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in general business. Education or experience in working with older adults or the elderly. Experience or education in coordinating program and volunteers is preferred.
