Food Pantry Aide

Guardian Angel Settlement Association (GASA)

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time (20–32 hours per week)
Pay: $16.50 – $18.50 per hour
Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday–Friday
  • Occasional evenings as needed
  • Second Saturday of each month
  • Occasional off-site travel
  • High school diploma, valid driver's license, amp; successful background check required

Position Summary

The Food Pantry Aide is responsible for supporting the daily operations of GASA's Client-Choice Food Pantry. This position helps ensure pantry services are organized, efficient, and welcoming while maintaining inventory, coordinating food pickups and deliveries, assisting members, supervising volunteers, and entering service data into Salesforce.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, is organized, dependable, and committed to providing respectful, dignified service to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.


Essential ResponsibilitiesPantry Operations
  • Oversee pantry operations during service hours
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe pantry and warehouse areas
  • Stock, rotate, and organize inventory
  • Inspect food for quality and safety
  • Label and barcode food items
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs
  • Coordinate food orders, deliveries, and pickups
  • Receive and organize food donations
  • Load and unload food, donations, and supplies
  • Complete scheduled food pickups on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
  • Maintain agency vehicles used for pantry operations
Member Services
  • Welcome and assist pantry members during shopping appointments
  • Help members select food that meets household needs
  • Conduct basic needs assessments and connect members with additional services
  • Assist with required paperwork
  • Deliver food to homebound members when assigned
  • Schedule future pantry appointments
  • Maintain confidentiality while treating every member with dignity and respect
Documentation amp; Inventory
  • Enter pantry services into Salesforce daily
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
  • Complete required documentation for food distribution and deliveries
  • Track pantry visits and member interactions
Volunteer Support
  • Orient volunteers before pantry service
  • Explain safety procedures and confidentiality expectations
  • Assign volunteer duties
  • Work alongside volunteers to ensure efficient pantry operations
Agency Support
  • Participate in staff meetings and required trainings
  • Assist with fundraising and community outreach
  • Support agency events including:
    • Parking Lot Friday
    • Back-to-School events
    • Holiday distributions
    • Community resource fairs
    • Special events
  • Represent GASA professionally with members, volunteers, donors, and community partners
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Proof of automobile insurance
  • Ability to obtain a Missouri Class E Driver's License if required
  • Ability to drive agency vehicles
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Basic computer skills

  • Experience working in:

  • Experience working with volunteers
