Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Social Work prepares students to become generalist and advanced generalist social work practitioners adept at working with populations on micro, mezzo, and macro system levels.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide high-quality instruction in social work courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. The adjunct faculty member will teach up to nine hours per semester (part-time) ensuring that course content aligns with the program's learning outcomes and Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards. Adjunct faculty are also responsible for engaging students in meaningful dialogue, fostering critical thinking, and evaluating student performance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of generalist and/or advanced social work practice.
  • Strong commitment to social work values
  • Ability to deliver in-person instruction daytime, evenings and/or Saturdays.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with student population
  • Ability to apply adult learning principles and current best practices in social work education.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g. Canvas) and instructional technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines for grading, feedback, and reporting.
  • Able to teach in one or more of these areas: Research, Statistics, Policy, Practice, and/or Human Behavior and Social Environment.

Minimum Education/Experience
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • A minimum of two years of post-MSW professional social work practice experience.
  • Preferred PhD and DSW
