Job Title
On Call - Occupational Programs Lab Technician (Applicant Pool)
Job Summary
Responsible for the preventative maintenance of laboratories and repair of instructional equipment outside the functions of Information Services activities. Work with faculty and the administrative assistant to order and stock supplies for laboratories. Assist faculty in setting up laboratories for class and for special events. Inspect and facilitate maintenance of the Applied Science building and the Mechatronics Laboratory in the Biotechnology Center building, including processing and follow-up of work order repairs for instructional facilities.
Job Duties
1. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of lab equipment and troubleshoots equipment to resolve issues in a timely fashion.
2. Coordinates external service calls from manufactures and service providers with phone support or onsite visits.
3. Assists the faculty with the maintenance of the laboratory and equipment storage rooms in the Applied Science building.
4. Maintains liaison with full and part-time faculty members regarding services of the laboratory calibration and laboratory certification.
5. Maintains necessary records.
6. Conducts regular preventive maintenance service to equipment and machines.
7. Provides the periodic preventive maintenance of the machines.
8. Provides visual maintenance inspection of Applied Science Building.
9. Processes the Applied Science building repair work orders for instruction facilities.
10. Processes the Applied Science building equipment transfers and surplus equipment for the traditional instructional facilities.
11. Must comply with OSHA guidelines.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Required Qualifications
1. High school graduate with some college experience.
2. Basic mechanical/electrical/electronic background with knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
3. Ability to troubleshoot machine system problems and determine resolutions.
4. Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, and work orders to perform or facilitate required maintenance and services.
5. Ability to communicate effectively by computer, orally, and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate Degree in Science or Applied Science.
2. Two (2) - Five (5) years of relevant experience.
