Job description

Position Summary
Art of Problem Solving is looking for an Upper-Level Math Instructor to join their Virtual Campus team. This is a part-time position. The AoPS Academy Virtual Campus is an after-school and weekend enrichment option for students. Our Year-Round courses are offered late afternoons to evenings between 4pm ET and 10pm ET Monday through Friday and from 10am ET to 9pm ET on Sunday. Summer camps are held Mon-Fri between June and August and run for 1, 2, or 4 weeks for 1.5 or 3 hours per day.

This might be a good fit if you:

  • Have experience competing in or teaching/tutoring students for middle and high school math contests such as:
    • AMC, AIME, MATHCOUNTS, USA(J)MO, IMO.
  • Prefer student-led instruction, discussions, and allowing students to do the heavy lifting
  • Foster an engaging classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and problem solving
  • Are comfortable teaching in a live virtual classroom environment using software such as Zoom.

For each lesson you will:

  • Teach enthusiastic middle and high school students in our online classrooms.
  • Use our curriculum to teach participation-oriented classes that focus on instruction and developing skills, not on rote memorization.
  • Work in small classes (average size 12) with top performing students who are passionate about learning and are motivated to succeed.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in a STEM field is required. A master's degree or higher in a STEM field is preferred.
  • Must have some experience teaching or tutoring students at the middle to high school level.

Strongly preferred:

  • Experience with middle and high school math contests such as: AMC, AIME, MATHCOUNTS, USA(J)MO, IMO, etc.

Benefits and Compensation:

The instructor rate at the Virtual Campus is $30/hour. The class rates represent flexible work time, 15 minutes early arrival immediately before class, and actual class time.
