Job description

Classification Title:
Adjunct - Developmental Mathematics Instructor (Pool)
Department:
Mathematics
Physical Demands:
Able to traverse campus, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, bending, vision, hearing, and talking.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Adjunct Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on an as needed basis. These positions are filled prior to or during each semester and are contingent upon the needs of the College.
Brazosport College accepts application materials for pool positions on a continuing basis throughout the year from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis.
Academic departments will contact potential applicants when there are available openings.
  • Teaches developmental math courses and corequisites using traditional and alternative delivery methods to assist students to master concepts. Example courses are: Fundamentals of Algebra, Foundations of Math, and corequisites for Fundamentals of Algebras, College Algebra, Finite Math, Quantitative Reasoning, and Statistics.
  • Follow designed curricula, including digital textbook.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with individuals and students from diverse cultural backgrounds and across a wide range of age groups.
  • Experiences that enhance one's value to the institution and students
  • Reports to the Division Chair of Mathematics and Sciences
  • Works with faculty in Math Department

College benefits do not accrue with this part-time position.
Minimum Qualifications:
For corequisite and developmental math, minimum requirements are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics or Mathematics,
  • Or Bachelor's degree with 24 credit hours of math at the level of Calculus I or above,
  • Or Bachelor's degree and 18 graduate hours in Math
  • Or Texas Teaching Certificate or a graduate course in Learning Theory.
  • Special considerations may be given to employment or educational qualifications if Southern Association (SACS) minimum educational credentials are met.
  • Teaching course(s) face-to-face only
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with such Technology as Microsoft Office, Zoom, TEAMS, Learning Management Systems, docu-camera, and computers.
  • Shows continued growth in teaching and through training
