Job Summary

The Loss Prevention Officer (Part Time) provides security presence and review of camera video, investigates security issues and appears in court as necessary.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides onsite security presence for assigned facility.
  • Opens and closes facility, monitors front door (University-center lobby), screens security videos live, and pulls and researches video footage as needed.
  • Manages unhappy customers or students and acts as first line of contact for deescalating situations.
  • Calls 911 if situation cannot be managed and then communicates the issue with direct supervisor.
  • Performs ad hoc security tasks when needed.
  • Assists with front desk, manages security for large events (monitors doors), secures building and assists with the retail store after hours.
  • Serves as the loss prevention after hours point of contact.
  • Fields general customer calls and questions relating to loss prevention.
  • Gathers customer information and passes along to loss prevention agent to handle theft incidents.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Requirements

  • Basic law enforcement or loss prevention background preferred.
  • De-escalation or conflict management experience preferred.
  • Experience working as a security guard preferred.
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and manage conflict.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • First aid skills.
  • Prior experience working with video camera system a plus.
