The SPEAK Center for Language and Learning is a leading multidisciplinary pediatric rehabilitative clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive care for children with developmental disabilities. Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and compassionate Board Certified Music Therapist to join our team at The SPEAK Center for Language and Learning. The Music Therapist will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of children with developmental disabilities through the transformative power of music-based interventions in both home and clinic settings. The ideal candidate will have six months of experience in a comparable setting. Recent grads with experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group music therapy sessions for children with developmental disabilities, incorporating a variety of music-based interventions to address therapeutic goals.
- Assess each child's unique needs, strengths, and preferences to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific developmental and communication goals.
- Utilize music therapy techniques to facilitate improvements in communication, socialization, emotional expression, motor skills, and cognitive abilities.
- Engage families and caregivers in the therapeutic process, providing education and support on how to incorporate music-based strategies into daily routines and interactions at home.
- Monitor and document progress regularly, maintaining accurate records of assessments, treatment sessions, and progress reports in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program.
- Have completed all educational and clinical training requirements as required by the American Music Therapy Association, inclusive of six (6) month internship at an approved site as well as pre-clinical hours completed during their academic coursework.
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities in a clinical or educational setting preferred.
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention using a variety of music therapy techniques and modalities.
- Compassionate and client-centered approach to care, with a genuine passion for using music to enhance the lives of children and families.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a residential or clinical setting.
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities, especially ASD, preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
