Core Duties:

  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.  
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.  
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.  
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physical, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.   Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.  
  • Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols. 

Specific Duties for Physician Emergency Medicine: 

  • Perform the evaluation, admission, diagnosis, treatment, disposition, and management of emergency medicine patients.
  • Provide prompt subspecialty or other specialty referral and consultation assistance to other specialty services in the hospital.
  • Provide teaching and supportive services to medical students, interns, Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellows and/or residents.
  • Respond to all codes and render all available emergency procedures and treatment to stabilize patients in cases of serious illness or injury.
  • Facilitate, as required, referral to the patient's primary physician, or consultant, for definitive medical care of chronic or serious emergency conditions.
  • Interpret results of diagnostic studies and determine appropriate treatment regimens according to established standards, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Conduct patient education with an emphasis on prevention of illness/injury.
  • Contact medical personnel to obtain and provide substantive confidential, medical information within limits of legal restraint and provide.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).  
  • Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.  
  • Certification: Possess board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Association.
  • Internship/Residency/Fellowship: Successful completion of a residency program in Emergency Medicine which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of three years of experience within the last four years as an Emergency Medicine Physician.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of California.
  • Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

Pay Scale: $240 - $249.90 based on qualifications, experience, and location
