Allen County Government | Fort Wayne, Indiana

Allen County Government is seeking a Part-Time Human Resources Assistant to join our Human Resources team. This position plays an important role in supporting employees, job applicants, and the public while gaining valuable experience in recruiting, onboarding, employee services, and administrative operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in Human Resources, office administration, or public service who enjoys working with people and thrives in a fast-paced professional environment.
What You'll Do
As a Human Resources Assistant, you'll help support the daily operations of the Human Resources Department by:
  • Serving as a friendly first point of contact for employees, applicants, and the public
  • Assisting applicants with the employment application process
  • Creating employee identification badges
  • Scheduling and confirming pre-employment drug screens
  • Conducting BMV record checks for new hires and annual reviews
  • Preparing documents, correspondence, and departmental communications
  • Assisting with special projects and department initiatives
  • Creating the department's bi-weekly employee newsletter
  • Providing administrative support to the Human Resources team

What We're Looking For
Successful candidates will have:
  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • At least one year of administrative, clerical, customer service, or office support experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn

Previous Human Resources experience is helpful but not required.
