Job description

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

CCC's Office of Human Resources is committed to fostering an environment that attracts, motivates, and retains a highly skilled and diverse workforce. In support of this mission, the Payroll & HRIS Analyst is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate and effective processing of payroll disbursements for all employees in compliance with federal and state tax regulations and requirements, and providing functional and technical support and guidance in CCC's utilization of human resource information systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

         Participates in project work related to new HRIS systems or upgrades to existing systems.

         Provides the HRIS Director with recommendations to improve the functionality of the PeopleSoft HCM system and any additional non-PeopleSoft related components.

         Creates and maintains system and or process documentation.

         Uses PeopleSoft query tools to create and run routine queries and produce reports from the PeopleSoft HCM system.

         Ensures that any regularly scheduled reporting processes are executed by documented deadlines.

         Audits system capabilities for accuracy, integrity, and functionality by performing system testing, monitoring and documenting test results.

         Assists in running payroll reports as needed.

         Administers payroll-related functions including but not limited to processing new hires, terminations, wage garnishments, deduction updates, pension and all entry related to employee master file.

         Assists in all biweekly payrolls to ensure they are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

         Assists with pension inquiries and tickets.

         Coordinates new employee orientation.

         Trains new managers on proper timekeeper procedures.

         Performs timekeeper audits (no lunch violations, PT/FT hours audits, & no hours worked).

         Responds to payroll-related inquiries including but not limited to, payroll deductions, wage garnishments, child support payments, PTO and Sick accruals, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions, employment verifications and resolves employee paycheck issues.

         Assists with preparation for regular and annual payroll audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

         Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least three years of experience in the areas of HR applications, database management, and payroll management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience for a large organization

         Three years of technical expertise in PeopleSoft or a similar HRIS

         Experience identifying, implementing, and executing improvements to existing processes

         Experience in project management

         Understanding of federal and state tax laws and their impact on payroll

         Demonstrated functional knowledge in PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM)

         Strong working knowledge of various HR functions e.g. recruiting, compensation, benefits administration and payroll processing.

         Ability to successfully manage complex, ambiguous, and multiple priorities

         Ability to work well with persons at all levels of the organization, including external parties

         Ability to handle all situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacy

         Must possess and maintain a high level of confidentiality

         Must be self-directed and able to meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy and in a timely manner.

         Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills

         Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Salary Range: $56,067 - $65,000

Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
