Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Assistant for the department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
A neuroscience lab at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking motivated undergraduate research assistants for part-time employment. The lab is interested in the molecular mechanisms of the body's biological clocks and how clock dysfunction is involved in pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders including autism and depression. The lab has an excellent track record of training undergraduate students. Former undergraduate trainees were highly successful in getting co-authorships in publications, fellowships, travel awards or admission into medical or graduate schools.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Work on chronobiology and neuroscience related research projects.
  • Manage transgenic and knockout mouse colonies, pup weaning and genotyping.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies; order and organize laboratory supplies.
  • Help prepare reagents, solutions and specimens; assist with cleaning and disposal of spent reagents using appropriate procedures.
  • Maintain, calibrate, repair, and/or oversee efforts to improve the functionality of our laboratory equipment.
  • Preserve the organization and cleanliness of the laboratory.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
