How much do part time hospital nutrition jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 12, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time hospital nutrition in the United States is $18.18, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.90 and $20.19 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Do nutritionists work at hospitals?

Yes, nutritionists and dietitians often work in hospitals, providing medical nutrition therapy, developing patient meal plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams. They typically require certification or licensure and work in clinical settings to support patient health and recovery.

What is the difference between Part Time Hospital Nutrition vs Part Time Clinical Dietitian?

AspectPart Time Hospital NutritionPart Time Clinical Dietitian
CredentialsRegistered Dietitian (RD) or Nutritionist certificationRegistered Dietitian (RD) or Nutritionist certification
Work EnvironmentHospitals, clinics, healthcare facilitiesHospitals, outpatient clinics, healthcare settings
Job FocusProviding nutritional support and education to hospital patientsAssessing patient nutritional needs and developing care plans

Both roles require similar credentials and work in healthcare settings, but Part Time Hospital Nutrition often emphasizes nutritional support within hospital environments, while Part Time Clinical Dietitians may work across various healthcare settings focusing on patient assessments and diet planning.

Is AI going to replace dietitians?

AI cannot fully replace hospital nutrition dietitians, as their role involves personalized assessment, counseling, and adapting nutrition plans based on individual patient needs. AI tools can assist with data analysis and meal planning but lack the human judgment and empathy essential in clinical nutrition care.

Can you be a nutritionist as a side hustle?

A part time hospital nutritionist can potentially work as a side hustle if they have the necessary certifications and licensure, such as a registered dietitian (RD) credential. They may offer consulting, meal planning, or education services outside their primary job, but must ensure they comply with professional regulations and avoid conflicts of interest. Balancing a side hustle with hospital duties requires managing time and maintaining professional standards.

What is the highest paid job in nutrition?

The highest paid roles in nutrition are often senior-level positions such as Clinical Nutrition Directors or Nutrition Program Managers, who oversee large healthcare or institutional nutrition programs and typically hold advanced degrees and certifications. These roles can offer salaries exceeding $100,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
