Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Food Service Technician to support evening cafeteria operations as a cashier while assisting with overall food service functions. This role demonstrates proficiency across technical duties, takes initiative in routine operations, and provides leadership support in the absence of a supervisor.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional service to patients, guests, and staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Operational Support
  • Oversee routine operations during evening shifts when a supervisor is not on duty
  • Ensure all assigned tasks and stations are completed efficiently and on schedule
  • Direct and support team members to maintain workflow and service standards
  • Make staffing adjustments as needed to cover open positions
  • Assist with scheduling, task assignments, and departmental projects
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Cashiering & Food Service Duties
  • Perform accurate cash handling and operate registers with proficiency
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff
  • Understand and interpret menus, including regular and modified diets
  • Maintain proper food safety standards, temperature checks, and documentation
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and stocking supplies
  • Ensure cleanliness standards and sanitation schedules are followed
Safety, Compliance & Quality
  • Follow hospital safety procedures including infection control and emergency protocols
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with patient rights regulations
  • Adhere to departmental and hospital-wide safety standards
  • Utilize MSDS resources and proper chemical handling procedures
Team Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leadership, and customers

QualificationsRequired

Certifications (Required within 90 Days of Hire)
