What is a CDR Healthcare professional?

CDR Healthcare professionals are healthcare practitioners who have obtained registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. They are typically Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) or Nutrition and Dietetic Technicians, Registered (NDTRs), who have met specific academic, experiential, and examination requirements. These professionals provide medical nutrition therapy, develop nutrition programs, and offer guidance on diet and health. Their expertise is used in hospitals, clinics, schools, and community health settings to improve patient outcomes through proper nutrition.

Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, coding software, and clinical documentation improvement tools is essential. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and effective communication are vital soft skills in this role. These skills ensure accurate clinical documentation, compliance with regulations, and optimal reimbursement for healthcare organizations.
