We are seeking Ob Laborists to join our growing team! Hoag has been named by Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics.

Hoag Health continues to make significant investments into our program to serve our community. Hoag is set to open a new $1.3 billion, state-of-the-art hospital campus in Irvine, CA further expanding our regional footprint and clinical capabilities. This will include a 17-bed Level III, NICU allowing mothers and babies needing specialized care to stay together in one location and not have to be transferred to another hospital.


Hoag’s comprehensive clinical team is trained to manage the most complex maternal and newborn conditions. The world-class team of Magnet®-designated nurses, obstetricians, OB hospitalists, perinatologists, neonatologists, and dedicated anesthesiologists are available on-site 24/7 to prevent and manage all possible emergencies. Hoag staff offer advanced care to ensure healthy pregnancies and deliveries, establishing Hoag with the highest volume of deliveries in the county and the second highest in California. Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is the first hospital on the West Coast to achieve dual accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Continence Care for Women, recognized by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) and the National Association for Continence (NAFC) for providing the highest quality of care and patient safety.


Position Details:

  • Full-time or Part-time in Newport Beach, and Irvine, CA
  • Schedule: Flexible to shifts in a combination of 12-hour weekday night shifts and 24-hour weekend shifts, balanced with office hours for an Ob/Gyn practice.
  • Hoag Newport Beach and Hoag Irvine are both high-volume birthing centers
  • Call equally divided amongst the group for deliveries. Estimated at 3 call days per month.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team: Anesthesiologists, Maternal Fetal Medicine
  • Seasoned and dedicated RN's and support staff
  • EMR: Epic

Requirements:

  • Must have an active and unrestricted California State Medical License.
  • Board-eligible, American Board Certified in OB/GYN, Fellowship in OB/GYN is a plus.
  • Experience as an OB Laborist/OB Hospitalist is preferred.
  • Must be interested in participating in clinical education for other medical staff, establishing care protocols for labor and delivery programs and working on research projects as needed.
  • A passion for providing excellent clinical care and excellent communication skills and interest in working in a collaborative/ team-oriented environment are a must.
  • Proficient in EMR Systems (EPIC).
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital/surgical privileges at Hoag Hospital.

Hoag Hospital:

  • Locations: The main unit is the Sue & Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion in Newport Beach, featuring 18 labor, delivery, and recovery suites. Hoag Hospital Irvine provides private, home-like birthing suites.
  • Care Team: Staff includes board-certified OB hospitalists, dedicated anesthesiologists, and Magnet nursing staff.
  • Facilities: Private suites include amenities like private bathrooms, sleeper couches for support, and in-room baby warmers.
  • Specialized Care: The hospital offers a 24/7 obstetrics emergency department, a Level 3A NICU for high-risk needs, and a fetal diagnostic center.
  • Support: Services include in-room lactation support, postpartum counseling, and amenities like tea service and aromatherapy.
  • Procedure: For birth, patients are directed to the 5th floor of the Women's Pavilion in Newport for triage.
  • 18 private suites, 3 operating rooms, and a large family waiting area.
  • Post-Delivery: The "golden hour" allows for uninterrupted bonding and skin-to-skin time.
  • Mother Baby Unit: Located on the 7th floor for post-delivery care.
  • Fudge Family Birthing Suites: Ground-floor suites focusing on labor and, delivery.
  • Postpartum Suites: Located on the 6th floor for mother/baby
