Job description

Franklin, based in San Antonio, is a premier operator of senior housing communities in Texas and Georgia. We are looking for someone to join our team as a part-time employee or in a contract capacity to fulfill our need for an RN Delegator to educate, train, and provide support to the employees involved with the medication pass process for our Assisted Living and Memory Care residents.
The RN delegator will be required to schedule a delegate class, held in person at one of the local communities within the portfolio, at least twice per calendar month.
The RN Delegator will conduct an annual refresher course for all delegates.
The RN Delegator will conduct a quarterly visit to each work location that has employees being delegated by the RN Delegator.
The RN Delegator will conduct an annual cart audit at each work location that has employees being delegated by the RN Delegator.
The RN Delegator will conduct a review of all records for each new resident who moves in and is receiving medications that require RN oversight.
The RN Delegator will be responsible for ensuring the proper training and guidance for employees involved with passing the following medications to residents:
  1. All over-the-counter medications
  2. All physician-prescribed medications, including insulin (sliding scale could differ)
  3. Liquid medications (some may require special provisions for delegate - i.e., morphine, lorazepam, etc.)

In order to execute the duties and role of The RN Delegator, anyone being considered for the role or working in the role is to meet the experience, educational, knowledge, skills, and abilities requirements below.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Organizational or management experience supervising others preferred
  • Ability to respond during off-duty hours to questions and emergencies
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook software. Basic typing skills required
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Bilingual a plus
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees, residents, family members, and outside contacts
  • Knowledge of current Federal and State laws pertaining to assisted living and/or memory care communities
  • Able to make independent decisions
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduate from an accredited program for Registered Nurses and is currently licensed in Texas
  • Must obtain valid Continuing Education credits as required by the state of this community.
  • Basic CPR/first aid training
  • Ability to pass driving policy requirements

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • One year of experience working in Assisted Living or Memory Care community and providing RN Delegation services
  • One to two years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Stand and/or walk up to four (4) hours a day and sit up to two (2) hours a day
  • Occasionally support up to 25 pounds
  • Able to travel overnight by car or plane
  • Able to talk for up to two hours at a time to perform training duties for RN Delegation attendees
  • Vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Subject to infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc. throughout the workday
