Payroll Responsibilities:
  1. Process bi-weekly payroll, includes salary and hourly (timesheets) employees
  2. Prepare payroll warrants and send to Board of Directors for approval,
  3. Post payroll expenditures
  4. Input insurance, retirement, union dues and other payroll deductions
  5. Process monthly MTRS retirement wire transfers.
  6. Process biweekly State Retirement wire transfers.
  7. Check attendance records to absence logs in time off system on a weekly basis.
  8. Responsible for inputting updated hourly rates and insurance rates in payroll system
  9. Work with the Human Resources Coordinator to ensure proper payroll information is input into payroll.
  10. Support the improvement, development and implementation of payroll initiatives and systems as directed by the Executive Director and Business Manager.

Other Responsibilities:
  1. Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Business Manager to ensure efficient payroll operations of the Business Office

Terms of Employment:
  • Part time (approximately 10 hours per week on average). Possibly more during busier times of the year and during training period.
  • Twelve (12) month position
  • Hours: Days of work will include Fridays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (hours negotiable on these days). Schedule will be established once training is complete.
  • Non-Bargaining Unit Position
  • Benefits do not apply

Qualifications:
  1. Experience with payroll processing is required. Experience with public school payroll processing is preferred.
  2. Experience with Harpers payroll preferred.
  3. Experience in Public School or Collaborative Central Office preferred, associate degree or two years of higher education required
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of cloud-based applications, spreadsheets, databases, and Google suite.
  5. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  6. Ability to work independently
  7. Ability to communicate well through written and oral means
  8. Willing to acquire new skills continuously as new technology resources are introduced in the Business Office
  9. Other qualifications as deemed necessary or appropriate by the Business Manager

Reports to and supervised by: Executive Director and Business Manager
Salary range for this is $30-$40/hour depending on experience.
Summary:
The Payroll Clerk assists the Business Manager to create and sustain an efficient Business Office as it relates to payroll processing and is focused on building strong connections of support for all staff and students at READS Collaborative.
